Confidence and beauty starts with smooth, clear and beautiful skin. For acne prone skins, we have here a few tips that could help minimize or better yet, prevent break outs. Most teens, going through puberty would mean getting pesky acne, oily skin and other skin problems. Hormones on the loose are the usual culprit and sometimes poor hygiene and genes.
First on the list is, keep your face clean. Having acne or not, it’s a mortal sin not to wash your face and keep it free from impurities. Washing the face regularly removes dead skin cells, oil and dirt. Using a mild facial cleanser with warm water is best for your skin, never use harsh body soap and other cleansers which may irritate your skin.
Number two would be to moisturize. Using commercially prepared acne products oftentimes contain ingredients that would dry the skin. It is only wise to always use a moisturizer to prevent dryness and skin peeling. Use “noncomedogenic” products, this label on products mean it shouldn’t cause acne. Also, look for moisturizers that is specifically created for oily skin, dry or a combination of dry and oily skin.
Third tip is for the ladies; refrain from using make-up all the time. Especially during break outs, try to avoid wearing foundation, blush, powder and other cosmetics. If you should wear make-up, look for products that are oil-free and free from dye, perfume and other chemicals. Always read the label on the product before you purchase.
Trying over the counter acne products also work. Anti-acne products don’t need prescription and are usually not that expensive. Most of these contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acid or lactic acid that wards off acne causing bacteria on the skin. However, these may also cause dryness and peeling on the skin. It is best that you apply in small amounts then adjust as needed.
Lastly, be very careful of the products you put on your hair as these may also cause acne. Avoid using oil, pomades, gels on your hair and hair products with heavy perfume. In taking a shower, use gentle shampoo and conditioner. Having oily hair can cause acne and break outs. If you have long hair it would be better if you keep it in pony tail and away from the face.
